Fabrizio Romano seems to confirm Spurs target will leave PL club this summer

Fabrizio Romano has provided a boost to Tottenham by revealing that the club’s rumoured goalkeeping target David Raya will be leaving Brentford this summer, with his replacement coming in the form of Mark Flekken.

Multiple publications over the last couple of weeks have indicated that Raya is one of Tottenham’s top targets to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris next season (The Athletic).

The Brentford goalkeeper will enter the final year of his contract this June (Transfermarkt) and it was reported by The Telegraph last week that amidst interest from the likes of Spurs, the Bees would be willing to cash in on the goalkeeper for around £40m.

This was subsequently followed by an update from Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas who suggested this week that Thomas Frank‘s men are making progress on a deal to sign Freiburg’s Mark Flekken as a potential replacement for the Spaniard.

Romano has now taken to social media to confirm that the Dutch goalkeeper will indeed replace Raya at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Thomas Frank’s men expected to ‘seal’ an agreement soon.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been pretty clear for a while that Raya is on his way out of Brentford.

The 26-year-old will undoubtedly be near the top of Tottenham, Chelsea’s and Man Utd’s wishlist this summer.

I am sceptical about whether we would be able to win the race for the Spaniard if we do not have any European football to offer next season.
