Fabrizio Romano suggests 50 per cent chance of Spurs target moving this summer

Fabrizio Romano has claimed there is a 50 per cent possibility of reported Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger leaving Chelsea this summer.

Germany international Rudiger sees his current contract expire at the end of the season, while the Blues have been in talks over fresh terms for a number of months now (Mirror).

The 28-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich (Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth) while Tottenham have remained on the periphery as Levy and co look to strike a potential deal (ESPN).

Goal have reported there has been progress in talks over a new deal, with Chelsea said to be willing to bend to the centre-back’s wage demands in fear of losing him as a free agent this summer.

However, transfer guru Romano believes there is an equal possibility of Rudiger moving on from Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign, despite Chelsea being keen to keep him on board.

He said on the Here We Go Podcast (episode 88): “Yes, I will start with Rudiger, we can say that the situation with Toni Rudiger is still open.

“It’s true that Chelsea are still pushing to extend his contract, but at the same point nothing has been agreed yet, so the situation is open with Rudiger.

“It’s 50/50 for Rudiger to stay or to leave the club, but Chelsea are still trying to keep him at the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Rudiger has emerged as one of Chelsea’s most important defenders so they are obviously wanting to keep him. If Spurs do remain interested, it will definitely be a tricky deal to pull off considering he is likely going to demand a hefty wage packet.
