Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Nicolo Barella is set to put pen to paper on a new contract with Inter Milan.
Barella has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years and is now considered by some to be one of the best midfielders in Italian football.
The 24-year-old played an important part in Inter’s Serie A triumph last season, as well as in Italy’s successful European Championship campaign in the summer.
According to reports, Conte wants Spurs to raid his former club for Barella when the January transfer window opens. The new Spurs boss is also thought to be keen on reuniting with another Inter midfielder in Marcelo Brozovic.
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the Nerrazuri have been successful in tying Barella down to a new contract.
He also revealed the hint Brozovic gave about his future when asked about his contract situation.
Nicolò Barella will sign his new contract with Inter in the next few hours, confirmed. New deal for five years, around €5m per season – announcement soon. 🔵 #Inter
Marcelo Brozovic still out of contract in June: “We’ll see…”, he answered when asked when he’ll sign a new deal.

Spurs Web Opinion
Some sources have suggested over recent days that Inter tying down Lautaro Martinez to a new contract is only to preserve his value and that the Serie A club could still sell the Argentine owing to their dire financial situation. So, there is no reason that Barella’s or Brozovic’s case would be any different.
However, it could be that Spurs’ interest in the pair was tied to the fact that they would be relatively inexpensive due to their contract situations. It remains to be seen if the North London club would break the bank for either player.
