‘Fair price’ – Torino president places huge valuation on Spurs-linked Gleison Bremer

Torino president Urbano Cairo has revealed he has agreed to sell Gleison Bremer this summer but insists the Tottenham-linked defender is worth more than €70 million (£59m).

Bremer has emerged as one of the most sought-after players this transfer window after he won the Serie A’s Best Defender award last season (FootballItalia).

90min report Torino are hoping to attract a big fee for the Brazilian now that his stock is high while a number of the Il Toro’s chiefs travelled to England to try and incite a bidding war between clubs.

It was also explained that Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea met with the club’s officials to enquire about Bremer, who made 33 appearances as part of a resolute defence last term (Transfermarkt).

But the aforementioned Premier League clubs have now been sent a price warning by Torino president Cairo, who feels his player is worth more than the €70m fee Paris Saint-Germain have been quoted for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.

Cairo told La7 (12/07/22 – via Football Italia): “Is there a fair price for Bremer? There is, but I don’t think it’s fair to say it.

“I am on excellent terms with his agent and I have spoken to him. The player is an extraordinary guy. I told him that when a suitable offer arrives, I would sell him. But everything is relative.”

“I hear about €70m (£59m) for Skriniar. I think Bremer is worth more. My goal is to please him. And I will do because, in any case, those who can afford him will be top-level teams.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Bremer is obviously a talented asset available in the market this summer but he may not necessarily be the sort of profile Spurs need in defence right now.

They have just signed Clement Lenglet to cover the central and left centre-back positions for the season, but a bigger name could be on the club’s radar going forward.
