Nuno Espirito Santo, the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has opened up on his impending style of play and making the fans proud in his first press conference in charge of the club.
The Portuguese coach became the eventual replacement for his fellow countryman, Jose Mourinho, with The Special One having been sacked back in late April.
Ryan Mason took charge of the Spurs team for the final matches of the season on an interim head coach basis, before Nuno was eventually hired to succeed Mourinho.
The former Wolves coach has claimed that he is happy to be in North London and will work to make the fans proud of Tottenham. He also added that he was sure that Spurs fans are going to love what is to come.
When asked about his upcoming style of play, Nuno didn’t give a lot away, claiming that the team are focusing on a number of different things.
He said (Charlie Eccleshare): “What we want is to make our fans proud. Let’s make our fans proud – to create a good atmosphere, Let’s enjoy yourselves – I’m totally positive the fans are going to love it.
“Fantastic club, amazing club. Best facilities in the world. We have to raise our standards so we can equal that. My focus is on the pitch and I truly believe we can do it.”

On his style, he added (Charlie Eccleshare): “We are focused on many aspects of the game. Now it’s about preparing the players to play in many different ways. We have to be organised. The two weeks the focus has been on fitness.”
On joining Spurs, he said (Football London): “I am here, this is where I want to be, I am so happy.”

It sounds to me that Spurs wanted Pochettino and, failing that, are going to use his blueprint. That means high press, high fitness, promoting young players, and playing progressive, attacking football.
