‘Fans don’t deserve this’ – Son offers honest view and blames players after Fulham loss

Heung-min Son has offered an honest assessment of Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 defeat at Fulham this evening.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side came into the match at Craven Cottage on the back of an impressive 4-0 win at Aston Villa and victory at Craven Cottage would have been enough for them to move back into the top four.

In what was arguably the worst performance of the Ange Postecoglou era, Tottenham were second best to a Fulham side in every aspect of the match.

Son admitted after the loss that ‘everybody has to look in the mirror’ over their effort in the Premier League fixture and admitted that the supporters did not deserve to be put through such a lacklustre display.

Heung-min Son blasts Spurs performance against Fulham

The club captain told Sky Sports: “It is very disappointing and very frustrating. Everybody has to look in the mirror and say ‘it is my fault’.

“It was not good enough. We didn’t put in the effort we have put in this season. The performance, the attitude was not good enough.

“Everyone needs a big wake-up call.

“In the Premier League if you are not ready you get punished. Aston Villa are an amazing team, but so are Fulham. If you are not giving 100% you get punished. You don’t get three points for free.

“This is two steps backwards. We now need to step forward.

“It is unacceptable, including me it was unacceptable. We are representing Premier League teams, we are representing Tottenham.

“This was not close to what we have been doing this season. It is very sad to watch this. The fans don’t deserve this. They are coming here with positive energy and good vibes. Losing this was is very tough.

“The players are very down.”

With the international break now upon us, Tottenham fans have a long time to wait before the players can look to rectify for such a shocking effort.

Too many players are going missing, Yves Bissouma was invisible in the middle of midfield and Radu Dragusin certainly had a wakeup call of the intensity of the top flight – there are just too many others to mention.
