Legendary Spurs defender Graham Roberts has praised the travelling Tottenham contingent for the way they supported the team in Leipzig on Tuesday.
The Lilywhites fell to a humiliating 3-0 defeat on the night and a 4-0 loss on aggregate as the Bundesliga side were utterly dominant in both legs.
Jose Mourinho set Spurs up to play on the front foot in Germany and press their opponents high up the pitch, but his game plan didn’t work as Leipzig were content to sit deep and hit Spurs on the break.
All of their goals came through counter-attacks as they broke forward in numbers with devastating effect each time they won the ball.
Despite the tie being effectively over by half-time, the majority of the Spurs travelling contingent stayed till the end and were in brilliant voice during the match.
Even after getting turned over 3-0, some Spurs fans sang their heart out after the final whistle.
While Roberts was far from happy with the team’s showing, he insisted that the travelling fans did themselves proud.
All I can say about last night is the fans were unbelievable again over the last few weeks when the team has been playing poorly you have all done yourself very proud and taken it up a level . COYS

Spurs Web Opinion
It really was brilliant to see how passionate the away support was last night despite our poor performance on the pitch. The players gave everything but were simply outclassed over two legs. Given the fact that the club is in an extremely difficult situation, we really need to get behind the players instead of slagging them off.
