‘Fantastic’ – Kulusevski gives his thoughts on Richarlison and front four formation

Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski is delighted to see the impact Richarlison is making at the club, and has also explained his feelings surrounding the new system Conte has been using.

Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in a deal worth £ 50 million plus an additional £ 10 million in add-ons (The Guardian).

While the Brazilian has not started a match for Spurs yet, he has come off the bench to help them turn the tides in the games against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Earlier this month, Son Heung-Min also revealed how he had been left in awe by Richarlison during the training sessions (The Athletic). The Brazilian seems to be adapting well to his new surroundings in N17, considering how Kulusevski has now shared that sentiment.

Richarlison has featured for just 47 minutes across the two appearances he has made so far for Antonio Conte’s team (Transfermarkt), however, even in those cameos, he was able to demonstrate the tenacity and quality on the ball he brings to the squad.

Kulusevski has lauded the 25-year-old for helping the team to turn things around in the last two Premier League fixtures.

Speaking in an interview with Football.London, Kulusevski said: “I think he’s a fantastic player. He’s come into two games and changed both games for the better. He’s so hungry, and I can improve a lot from him [in terms of] the hunger to get in the box and score.”

Conte has also changed his system to include four attackers on the pitch at one time against Chelsea, and Kulusevski believes Spurs must adapt their game to these formation tweaks while putting in the extra effort while defending to help the team.

He added: “They’re fantastic players. We have to adapt. If everybody is on the pitch, you have to adapt, to run back more. We have to attack as an 11 but defend that way also.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Richarlison was a key player for the Toffees last season and helped them to survive their shock relegation battle. He has seemingly carried that form into his new club, particularly in the game against Chelsea, which is indicative of the impact he can make in the future.

It is understandable why Conte has decided to incorporate Richarlison alongside his tried and trusted front trio of Harry Kane, Son and Kulusevski. However, that also means that the quartet must understand their defensive duties as opponents could take advantage should they fail to play their part.
