‘Fantastic’ – Leicester coach reserves praise for one Spurs starlet in 4-1 U23 win

Leicester City Under-23s coach, Ben Petty has lavished praise on the Tottenham youngsters who beat his side 4-1 in the Premier League 2 fixture on Monday.

It was Leicester who took the lead through Zimbabwean winger Tawanda Maswanhise but Spurs managed to turn the result around thanks to a Harvey White brace and a goal each from Malachi-Fagan Walcott and Tobi Omole.

White’s first goal was undoubtedly the goal of the night as the midfielder curled a beautiful freekick into the top corner from around 20 yards out.

The 20-year-old has been in brilliant form since returning from his loan spell at Portsmouth in the second half of last season.

White has already notched up four goals and four assists for the Under-23s in 12 Premier League 2 games so far.

Petty admitted that the Tottenham youngsters were ruthless during their 4-1 win on Monday and waxed lyrical about White’s free-kick just before the interval that gave the North Londoners the lead.

The Leicester Under-23s boss told The Foxes website: “I think you saw Tottenham’s qualities; they were ruthless tonight.

“(Goalkeeper) Brad (Young) hasn’t actually had to make too many great saves but the free-kick just before half-time is a fantastic piece of skill.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am surprised White has not been handed chances in the Europa Conference League this year, particularly given that the likes of Clarke, Scarlett and Markanday have been given minutes. I would not be surprised if Spurs decide to loan out White again this January.
