Alderweireld available for Villa trip despite developments in his personal life

It has been revealed by PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal on social media that Toby Alderwiereld and his wife Shani have now welcomed their second child into the world.

Their beautiful baby was born last night, but Alderweireld is said to still be available for the match against Aston Villa away on Sunday.

This comes after the Belgian recently committed his long-term future to Spurs with a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2023 (BBC).

The 30-year-old had been about to enter the final six months of his contract with Spurs, calling into question his long-term future with the club after five years in North London.

Alderweireld has been a mainstay in the Spurs back line since Jose Mourinho took over back in late November.

Anyone who follows Toby on social media will know what a family-orientated man he is, and we would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to him, Shani, and the newborn.
