Father of Premier League star claims Spurs were interested in signing forward

Sergio Aguero’s father has revealed that Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea all tried to sign the Premier League star this summer (Radio la Red).

However, all three London clubs ultimately failed in their pursuit as the Man City legend eventually agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer once his contract with the Citizens ran out.

The Argentine struggled with injuries and a lack of game time this season and his father even accused Pep Guardiola of not wanting his son at the club.

Aguero managed just six goals in 20 appearances for City this season. However, his overall City record of 260 goals in 391 games is far more impressive (TransferMarkt).

In fact, Aguero currently sits fourth in the table for all-time leading Premier League goalscorers, with 184 goals. Harry Kane is on 166 for Spurs.

Unfortunately, it appears that a Kane and Aguero link up is now unlikely as Spurs apparently fell short in their aims to sign the striker this summer.

Aguero’s father said (via Independent): “Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea were interested in him until the last moment.”
