Antonio Conte has explained that Giovani Lo Celso was left out of the Tottenham squad that beat Crystal Palace due to a minor injury.
Spurs breezed past the Eagles with a 3-0 win on Boxing Day, but the Argentina international was a noticeable absentee from the squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Lo Celso has had problems maintaining fitness throughout the majority of his two-and-a-half-year stint in N17 so far, and that has carried over into the current campaign where he has registered just two Premier League starts.
The 25-year-old recently returned from a knee injury picked up in mid-November and made the bench for the 2-2 draw against Liverpool and the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over West Ham.
Although Lo Celso was an unused substitute in both encounters, Conte has since revealed that his absence for the Palace match was due to a small calf problem picked up during the warm-down session after beating the Hammers last Thursday.
He said (via Football.London): “It is not a serious injury, after the game against West Ham the players that didn’t play had a little training and in this training he had a bit of fatigue in his calf but only for precaution we decided to wait, especially in this situation it is important to listen to the player.
“When you have a problem in your calf only the player can give you the right situation.”

Lo Celso has had some pretty rotten luck on the injury-front during his time at Spurs and overall the transfer has been a bit of a disaster, to say the least.
It is hard to gather any kind of momentum if an injury comes right around the corner, but on this occasion, it is only minor which is a plus.
