It’s official! Tottenham Hotspur have finally confirmed that they have secured the signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The French club revealed that the deal was worth €60 million upfront with potentially another €10 million in add ons.
The 22-year-old has signed a six-year deal with the club that will keep him under contract till 2025.
This is the second signing that the club have announced today after confirming that a deal had been agreed with Leeds United for their winger Jack Clarke, who was subsequently loaned back to the Championship club for the season.
While Spurs have been extensively linked with Ndombele over the past couple of weeks (Sky Sports), there were still fears that other clubs could swoop in for the French international (Eurosport), but those fears turned out to be unfounded in the end .
Some Spurs fans on social media were absolutely over the moon at the announcement:
This is more than just a new signing for #thfc. This is another huge marker in our rise as a football club – beating Europe's biggest clubs to one of the best midfielders. This shows exactly what we are capable as a club. #coys pic.twitter.com/UkLX31TTEt

#thfc on the pitch grew faster than the club could off it. Now we've moved into the new stadium, the club has caught up with the team and that's why we're spending £55M on one player. The disrespect shown to Daniel Levy has been embarrassing when patience and trust was required. pic.twitter.com/RRULoNuNKy
