Ferdinand suggests 28-year-old midfielder would be a good signing for Spurs

Anton Ferdinand has said that Tottenham should try and sign Joao Palhinha this summer but suggested that the Lilywhites might have to battle the likes of Manchester United for the Fulham star.

Palhinha’s reputation has grown substantially since his switch to Fulham in 2022. In fact, the Portugal international has been so consistently good that it is a bit of a surprise that he is still at Craven Cottage.

There has been plenty of speculation over the former Braga star’s future over the last two transfer windows and it remains to be seen if this summer is finally the time he gets his big move.

Meanwhile, it has been widely reported that signing a number six is one of Ange Postecoglou’s priorities this summer.

This claim was also made earlier this month by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who suggested that Spurs may look to sign Atalanta’s Ederson as they see him as someone who can offer competition to Yves Bissouma.

Would Palhinha be a good signing for Tottenham?

Ferdinand has now suggested that Palhinha might also fit the bill for the North London club.

He said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “Who do you (Man United) want? I want Palhinha from Fulham, he’s cold. Yeah, he gets about, that’s someone you (Spurs) could get actually, but where does he go to Tottenham or United?”

Palhinha is a decent shout as he would be an upgrade on Hojbjerg and would be able to make an instant impact, given his experience in the Premier League. However, Tottenham could be put off by the Fulham star’s age as he will turn 29 this July, thus meaning that there would be no re-sale value.
