Sergio Reguilon returned to Tottenham Hotspur this month after a brief spell at Manchester United, but the Spaniard looks set to leave the club again, with Brentford poised to sign him on loan until the end of the season.
Since joining Spurs back in 2020, Reguilon‘s fortunes have been something of a rollercoaster ride. The 27-year-old was initially a regular starter under Jose Mourinho, but has failed to establish himself under both Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou.
Reguilon spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, but injury issues meant that temporary switch was far from a success, and the left-back returned to North London in the summer.
Given a fresh slate by Postecoglou, Reguilon didn’t do enough to claim a first team spot and was shipped out to Manchester United on loan to cover for injuries there. His loan spell was concluded in January despite a fairly successful stint with the Red Devils.

Sergio Reguilon close to securing Brentford move
In recent days it has been widely suggested that Reguilon would join Brentford on loan until the end of the season (L’Equipe). Now, it seems that move is closer than ever, with Fabrizio Romano providing fresh details on the negotiations.
Romano tweeted: “Brentford are advancing in talks to sign Sergio Reguilón. Loan deal close to being agreed with Tottenham, at the final stages. Discussions will follow on player side, waiting for Reguilón decision as several clubs are interested.”
It is not known which other clubs are interested at this stage.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Sergio Reguilon can put together another decent run of form at Brentford (or whichever club he joins next), I would imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult for him to earn a permanent move somewhere in the summer. Fingers crossed this switch comes to fruition soon.
