“Finally I got a trophy” – Poch makes trophy gag at award bash

Tottenham Hotspur Manager Mauricio Pochettino was named the Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards on Thursday night. The Argentine has ensured that Spurs have remained the best performing London side so far this season, despite not adding any player in the last two transfer windows.

However, Pochettino is yet to win any silverware with the club, and it looks like the Argentine has to wait for alteast another year to win his maiden trophy after Spurs fell to back to back defeats to Burnley and Chelsea in the League.

Pochettino has come in for criticism from some experts due to his team’s failure to get across the final hurdle and win some silverware.

After winning the Manager of the Year Award, the 46-year-old joked that he had finally won his first trophy.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Argentine said that ” Like some people joke before – finally I got a trophy!”

The Argentine also thanked the foundation and said that it was an honour to be named the best manager in the capital.

He added, “Always an award means a lot for everyone and I want to say thank you to the foundation and of course for these London awards.”
