A video doing the rounds on social media showed James Maddison leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches which immediately made Spurs fans sit up and take notice after the 2-0 victory against Manchester United.
Concern for the summer signing’s condition was slightly eased by journalist Alasdair Gold who took to Twitter/X to confirm the fact he was wearing a protective boot and needed crutches was purely a precautionary measure after relaying what Maddison has told other members of the media in the mixed zone.
Maddison was one of the stars of the show for Spurs after they secured their first win of the new Premier League campaign in front of a brilliant atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Pape Matar Sarr opened the scoring just four minutes into the second half and Spurs put the result beyond the reach of Erik ten Hag’s side with seven minutes remaining when Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net.
Spurs fans await James Maddison injury update
The 26-year-old ran the United midfield ragged when he got on the ball and also worked tirelessly out of possession, building on his solid display in the Premier League opener at Brentford last weekend.
Just two games into the new campaign, the former Leicester City man has already shown why he is one of the club’s most important players, fitting seamlessly into the number eight role in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
However, Spurs fans now face a nervous wait for updates on Maddison’s fitness after watching the England international hobbling out of the stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion
Maddison did not show any signs of an injury after the full-time whistle but that could have been due to the adrenaline on the back of a result. Let us hope that this is nothing serious as the 26-year-old has already shown that he is quite indispensable in our current system.
