Fiorentina legend explains why Spurs have advantage in race for Vlahovic

Former Fiorentina midfielder and youth coach Massimo Orlando has backed Tottenham to beat Juventus to the signing of Dusan Vlahovic.

Over recent weeks, several reports have indicated that it is a two-horse race for Vlahovic’s signature between Tottenham and Juventus.

TuttoJuve24 revealed that Juve are worried they could be pipped by Spurs to the signing of the Serbian international after Conte’s arrival in North London while Tuttosport have claimed Fiorentina would prefer to sell the centre-forward to Spurs over the Serie A giants.

According to CaclioMeracto, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have drawn up a list of backups for the Fiorentina man as they fear they might miss out on him amidst Spurs’ interest.

Journalist Nicolo Schira contradicted these reports a few days ago, stating instead that Juventus were in pole position to snap up Vlahovic.

Schira said the Serie A giants have worked out a draft of personal terms for Vlahovic, which is thought to be around €6m (£5m) per year.

However, Orlando believes that the Fiorentina star is more likely to end up in North London than Turin.

He told TMW Radio (as relayed by Voce Giallorossa): “It seems to me that they [Juventus] will find it difficult to make an offer that can reach the levels of that of Tottenham.

“I think it’s difficult for him to stay in Italy. For me, Commisso [Fiorentina owner] doesn’t want to give him to Juve, and he would come out better.

“Vlahovic, however, proves to have the balls, because he shows with his situation on the pitch that he has motivations and the right mindset. For Juventus, he would be perfect.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Juventus’ financial position, we should possibly be able to outbid them for Vlahovic. However, a lot will depend on how much Conte and Partici want the Serbian.

One can make the case that the money could be better spent on strengthening other areas given that Spurs have Kane and Son.
