‘Fired up’ – Mark Lawrenson shares his Bournemouth v Spurs score prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Bournemouth tomorrow afternoon in a rare 3pm kick-off.

Last time out, Lawrenson incorrectly predicted that Spurs would beat Newcastle United 2–0, when in fact it ended up as a 2-1 victory for the Magpies to condemn Antonio Conte’s side to back-to-back defeats in the top flight.

The 65-year-old has tipped Tottenham to come away from the Vitality Stadium with all three points, claiming the north Londoners will be motivated after the VAR controversy in midweek against Sporting CP in which they had a dramatic last-minute goal chalked off by technology for Harry Kane being in an offside position from an Emerson Royal header.

Cherries boss Gary O’Neill has also fallen foul of VAR, having felt that both of West Ham United’s goals in their recent 2-0 defeat should have been disallowed (Daily Mail).

Lawrenson told Paddy Power: “Bournemouth thought they were hard-done-by at West Ham last week, though I thought West Ham deserved to win. They’ve lost two in a row now.

“Tottenham will be fired up after that nonsense with VAR during the week and Gary O’Neil’s in a tough place now the honeymoon period is over.

“Bournemouth 1-2 Tottenham.”

Tottenham need to return to winning ways to build confidence having not won in their last three outings in all competitions and will want to go into Tuesday’s crunch Champions League clash in Marseille with a victory under their build and also hoping not to pick up any further injury issues.
