First slit appears in pitch at new Tottenham stadium

Tottenham Hotspur are flying in the Premier League, but unfortunately they are still doing it from Wembley rather than the new White Hart Lane.

Spurs are enjoying one of their greatest ever starts to a Premier League season, recently leapfrogging Chelsea into third place after a 3-1 win.

Spurs are hopeful that they can move into the new ground come the new year, although a date has not yet been set.

The new Tottenham stadium features three huge sliding pitch trays, made up of 33 smaller trays (Tottenham site).

These hold the Spurs playing surface, which can be removed to reveal a special NFL pitch for games each year, another revenue source for the club.

Pictures emerging today reveal the first sign of a slit in the Tottenham pitch, giving fans an idea of how the system will work.

It looks rather strange to see a long ditch running along the width of our new pitch, but I’m sure it will be impressive in action.
