Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to the team selection for this evening’s Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Burnley at Turf Moor.
Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to avoid a third successive defeat in all competitions, with his decision to rest his star players against Vitesse Arnhem having backfired when the fringe players lost 1-0. Despite having recalled his stars for Sunday’s London derby at West Ham, a disappointing display saw them on the receiving end of an identical scoreline.
The Clarets have won just one of their last 14 meetings with Tottenham in all competitions (D4 L9), winning 2-1 in a home league game in February 2019.
Tottenham have eliminated Burnley the last two times they have faced them in the League Cup, doing so in the 2008-09 semi-final and in round four in 2004-05.
Nuno has made six changes from the Hammers defeat with Gollini, Sanchez, Davies, Lo Celso, Bergwijn and Bryan all coming in to start.
This is how some of the North London faithful reacted to news of the team:
5 defenders on the bench!! 🤦🏻♂️ let’s hope we don’t need to chase the game this evening. A ball hasn’t even been kicked tonight and totally fed up of this “Spurs DNA”… I don’t recall hearing… dull, lethargic football during the sales pitch!!

What has Kane done to deserve captaincy?

Sanchez x Romero is the worst possible partnership lmao. Both very rash and constantly out of position, I'd back Romero by himself but it's gonna be really awkward when he steps out and leaves Sanchez isolated.

Thing is, it really makes no difference what starting XI is named.
Just seeing 11 people giving it a go will be refreshing.

Not a bad team with some rotation. Although should be Tanganga at RB.
