Five Spurs players named in England squad

Five Tottenham Hotspur players have been picked by Gareth Southgate in England’s squad for the European Championship qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro this month.

England captain Harry Kane is joined in the squad by midfielders Eric Dier and Dele Alli, as well as full-backs Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier. Harry Winks is unfortunate to miss the call up after suffering an injury during Tottenham’s win over Dortmund.

Southgate has once again decided to keep the faith with Trippier and Rose, despite patchy the pair’s inconsistent form this season. The call up is also a huge vote of confidence for Dele and Dier, both of whom only returned to action recently after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Bulgaria and Kosovo are the two other nations in England’s group. Based on the quality of teams the three lions are up against, they shouldn’t have much trouble finishing top, and getting off to a winning start against the Czech Republic will certainly help England’s cause.
