Five Spurs stars who performed sensationally against Crystal Palace today

Tottenham Hotspur may not have been at their best so far this season, but they certainly put that run of form to an end today at the new stadium.

Spurs battered the Eagles from start to finish in the North London sun, with a number of players standing out.

Let’s take a look at the five players who were simply sensational out there today:

Heung Min Son –

We could hardly leave out the smiling assassin, Heung Min Son. Sonny killed off the match before it had even started, scoring two quickfire goals for the Lilywhites. They were far from simple finishes either, as he fooled a couple of defenders with a feint for the first and volleyed home for the second.

Toby Alderweireld –

It is rare for defenders to stand out in such a one-sided affair for the attacking team, however, Toby is once again the exception. He set the game in motion from the start with a superb ball over the top to Heung Min Son, who slotted home. He didn’t stop there though, as he sprayed pin-point passes all over the park all day. Not to mention the amazing defending.

Moussa Sissoko –

While Sissoko wasn’t exactly directly involved in the goals, the vast majority of turnovers and breakaways came from the Frenchman. Time and time again he picked up the ball in defence or midfield and drove through the lines to kickstart an attack. An underrated and unselfish performance for Sissoko today.

Serge Aurier –

There were question marks over his inclusion today, with the Ivorian not having any pre or early-season appearances. However, he showed the Spurs faithful that he was ready and raring to go early on in the match as he set up two of the first three goals.

Harry Winks –

An unselfish and unglamorous game from Winksy. He sat deeper to allow Sissoko to push on, playing a holding role away from the action in the box. However, he kept control well, kept the ball moving, passed positively, and rarely misplaced one.
