Five things we learned from the 1-0 win away to West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur drew level with Chelsea in the Premier League today after seeing off West Ham by one goal to nil.

The London Derby was a tight affair, but Poch’s men managed to hang on for all three points.

We take a look at the five things we learned from the match:

Harry Kane should have been rested

Harry Kane looked extremely laboured in a Spurs shirt today, no doubt due to his trips to both Croatia and Spain last week. The Tottenham man played a huge role in both international games for England, and perhaps should have been rested today, with Sonny sitting ready on the bench.

Spurs love a London Derby

Today’s win marked Tottenham’s fifth London derby win in a row. This is the first time the club have achieved this run since the famous double-winning side in the 60’s. Spurs are proving that they are able to get themselves pumped for the big games against the likes of West Ham, Arsenal and Chelsea, and make it out the other side with all three points.

Moussa Sissoko is proving his worth

Sissoko put in another impressive display today, which seems to be coming a bit of a trend. When I say a trend, I mean it’s been two games in a row, but we take what we can get. The Frenchman is proving he is valuable as a strong utility player in the squad, and even provided a lovely curled assist for Lamela today.

Lamela is class

Lamela’s form seems to know no bounds. The Argentine just can’t stop scoring. In a desperate period when Tottenham have been without Christian Eriksen, Lamela has really stepped up to pull the strings for his side. Today’s goal marked his seventh in just nine games, and what a return that is for a player in his position.

Dembele and Eriksen are back

What a relief it was to see both Mousa and Christian feature in today’s match. They were only cameos, but they were an indication of the stars’ fitness and readiness to play in the Premier League again. With a packed upcoming schedule of matches at the end of this month, Spurs will need as big a squad as possible fit and ready to play.
