‘Five years too late’ – Some Spurs fans do not approve of rumoured interest in midfielder

Some Spurs fans have been left rather uninspired by Tottenham’s rumoured move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

The Croatian international has seen himself fall out of favour at Barcelona due to the arrival of the younger Frenkie de Jong and reports indicate that he is on his way out of the Camp Nou this summer.

Mundo Deportivo claims that the 32-year-old is assessing his options for next season and that Jose Mourinho has expressed an interest in bringing him to North London.

Tottenham are said to be facing competition from the likes of Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli for the experienced midfielder’s signature.

Some Spurs fans on social media feel that the midfielder is past his best and wouldn’t add much to the Tottenham midfield, while others questioned if a creative midfielder was a priority given other holes in the current squad.

Here’s how some fans reacted to Tottenham’s rumoured approach for the Barcelona man:

Spurs Web Opinion

It is entirely possible that the Catalan media is linking us with almost all of Barcelona’s deadwood due to their interst in Tanguy Ndombele. I personally cannot see this happen as I expect Jose Mourinho to prioritise a move for a defensive midfielder ahead of a creative one like Rakitic.
