Eric Dier has seemingly made an excellent start to his time at Bayern Munich, with the German media now singing the praises of the centre-back.
Bayern’s decision to sign Dier last month perplexed many, given that the centre-back did not even make it into Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven even when both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were out injured.
However, the 29-year-old has settled in quite well at Bavaria, repaying the faith Thomas Tuchel has shown in him.
With Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-Jae out injured, the England international has started Bayern’s last two games and he has delivered solid displays in both, with the player particularly garnering plenty of praise for his showing against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

German media impressed by Eric Dier
Frankfurter Rundschau have been extremely complimentary about the centre-back after his performance on Saturday, stating that the defender has ‘attracted attention’ with the start he has made to life in Germany.
They say that Dier has been ‘error-free and reliable’ against both Augsburg and Gladbach, impressing with ‘a strong performance’ in the two games.
The outlet points out that the former Spurs star is constantly shouting instructions to his teammates and has been ‘robust’ and ‘flawless’ in duels. The publication adds that Dier is making a strong case to keep his place in Bayern’s starting eleven.
Spurs Web Opinion
A section of the Tottenham fan base have created a revisionist history on Dier by making it out as if he has always been poor. The reality is that the centre-back has been a key part of the best Spurs side most of us have seen in our lifetime.
He was also exceptional as recently as a year ago under Antonio Conte before his form suffered during the second half of last season, with the 29-year-old later admitting to playing with an injury.
It was clear that Dier needed a fresh start away from Tottenham and I am over the moon that he has started well at Bayern.
