Tottenham fans would have been hoping that Christian Eriksen would grab the Champions League match against Ajax on Tuesday by the scruff of its neck, however, that simply wasn’t the case.
In the absence of Harry Kane, Heung Min Son, Harry Winks, and Moussa Sissoko from the start, it was down to Eriksen to be a major part of Tottenham’s driving force and creativity.
However, the Great Dane seemed to slip into the shadows and ghosted through the 90 minutes without having much of an impact on the match.
Eriksen will enter the final year of his contract, come the end of this season, and it is not yet clear whether he will sign a new deal.
Spurs may, therefore, have to make the decision whether to sell him for a profit this summer, or keep him and risk losing him on a free in 2020.
