Football Manager sim shows what may have happened if Poch spent money this season

Much has been said this season about Tottenham’s lack of spending, as they became the first Premier League club in history not to sign a single new player across the campaign.

Poch and Levy instead opted for a settled squad, and it has gone pretty well for the so far, with Spurs well in the hunt for a Premier League trophy.

But what could have happened if Levy had pulled his wallet out? Could Spurs be doing even better than they already are?

Football Planet decided to load up a Football Manager 19 sim to see how Tottenham and Poch got on with a net spend of £250m this season.

In the simulation, Pochettino brought in the likes of Wilfried Zaha (£52m), Federico Chiesa (£91m), Daniele Rugani (£48.5m), Vitolo (£54m), and more.

However, despite the huge spending, Tottenham came fourth in the League, below where they are likely to finish this season in real life.

The simulation continued, and in 2020, Spurs finished second behind Man City. Fast forward another year on and Pochettino had been sacked.

Perhaps the lack of spending was a good thing.
