Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Giovani Lo Celso ever since the North London club had a £53m bid out of nowhere turned down for the playmaker earlier this summer.
Real Betis reportedly turned the offer down as they deemed it too far away from Lo Celso’s £88m buyout clause (BBC).
This came just months after Real Betis signed the player on a full deal themselves, as they exercised an option to buy in their loan deal with Paris Saint Germain (Goal).
Betis paid just €25m for the attacking midfielder, making quite the mark-up this summer.
Carlos Hidalgo now claims that Spurs have submitted a bid of €68m for Lo Celso this week, with Real Betis only entitled to €42m of the fee due to a clause in their deal with PSG (OnDacero – as quoted by El Transistor).
AFDLP also state that Betis are close to signing a replacement in Nabil Fekir, which will increase the chances of Lo Celso joining Spurs this summer, with the North London club being the only interested party.
Tottenham have bid nearly €68m for Lo Celso, with €42m of that going to Real Betis (the rest to PSG). Looks like it might be happening after all. #THFC https://t.co/8pNTGFuDAd

To just clarify to the “where some of the money will go’ part, not all of it will go to PSG. 20% goes to them (€12.8m). The rest is a little complicated, as often it is the case with South American players, as agent/club who aided his development is due a smaller percentage.
