‘For now’ – Spurs centre-back target Alessandro Bastoni comments on his future

Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni claims that he remains happy at Inter Milan for the moment amid continued links with the Lilywhites.

Alasdair Gold revealed in a Q&A for Football.London recently that Spurs are expected to pursue two centre-halves in the summer and added that Bastoni is likely to feature on the club’s wishlist if the Italian does not sign a new contract with the San Siro.

Gazzetta Dello Sport subsequently reported a couple of days ago that Inter had already begun talks with the 23-year-old’s entourage over a new deal as they were keen to tie him down.

The publication explained that the Nerazzurri want to avoid another fiasco like the Milan Skriniar one, and are aware that Bastoni has several admirers.

However, the publication stated that the Italy international, who currently earns €3m (£2.6m) per season, is demanding a salary of around €5m-€5.5m (£4.4m-£4.8m) to sign on the dotted line while Inter are only willing to offer him €4m (£3.5m).

Amidst the speculation regarding his contract status, the centre-back has now insisted that he remains ‘satisfied’ a the Serie A club.

When asked about his future, Bastoni told SportsMediaset: “Yes, right now I feel satisfied, I’m fine here. My family is fine here, so for now everything is fine”.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Spurs would be able to offer Bastoni more than double the wages that Inter Milan can and I suspect that the Lilywhites would have already conveyed the same to the centre-back’s representatives.

However the 23-year-old is a boyhood Nerazzurri fan and I would not be surprised if he reaches a compromise with Inter and commits his future to the club.
