Former AC Milan star argues why Leicester thrashing may work in Spurs’ favour

Former AC Milan full-back Luca Antonini has suggested that the Serie A club should be especially wary of Tottenham this evening as the Premier League side will be keen to respond to their drubbing at the hands of Leicester City.

Spurs went into the game at the King Power Stadium with plenty of momentum, having won three consecutive matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Manchester City.

The game started off on the right note for the visitors, who took the lead after 14 minutes but the home side then proceeded to put four past Antonio Conte’s men, whose defensive shortcomings were exposed once again.

Reports indicate that Antonio Conte did not say a word to his players in the dressing room after the final whistle on Saturday (Football.London).

However, Antonini believes that the former Inter boss would have given a dressing down to the Spurs squad in the lead-up to the clash at the San Siro and insisted that the Tottenham players will play with maximum intensity to make a point to their head coach.

The 40-year-old, who faced Spurs in the Champions League back in 2011, told Tuttosport (as relayed by Milan News 24): “Tottenham arrive from the KO against Leicester. Not good news for Milan.

“I’m convinced that Conte won’t have given his players a good time. Tottenham will arrive at 300mph. The main dangers? The collective. It’s going to be a tough game.”

There are only so many times that Conte can coax a response from the players after a morale-deflating loss. I fear that the defeat against Leicester would have severely dented the players’ confidence and we might struggle this evening, especially with several important players missing.
