Reports suggest that former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti blocked a big money Spurs signing this summer.
Tottenham are said to have been looking at Napoli ace Amadou Diawara as a long-term replacement for an ageing Mousa Dembele. The Belgian has been heavily linked to a move away from the club with China looking the most likely destination.
They are even said to have been willing to spend up to 40 million Euros on the midfielder, but Ancelotti who is now in charge at the Serie A outfit blocked any thought of a deal.
Tottenham went on to become the first Premier League side in history not to buy a single player during the summer transfer window since its inception.
Do Spurs need more depth in the centre of the park?

We need a higher quality of player, like Dembele. The trouble is Levy doesn’t want players on the bench earning bucket loads of cash. I think it pains him paying the first team what he’s having to pay them now. It’s going to be interesting as to how they replace Dembele.
