Former Chelsea boss explains what Manor Solomon told him about joining Spurs

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has described Manor Solomon as a ‘special player’ and backed the winger to succeed at Tottenham.

It is fair to say that most people did not expect Solomon to be a regular starter for Tottenham this season, partly because he arrived at the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The 24-year-old is competing with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Brennan Johnson for a place in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven.

However, the winger has seemingly won over the Australian quite quickly, having been named in the eleven for the club’s last two matches against Burnley and Sheffield United.

The Israeli international has added a different dimension to the Spurs attack, proving a constant threat in the final third with his ability to go past defenders in one-vs-one situations and having two assists to his name already.

Avram Grant thinks Solomon will be a Spurs success

Grant is convinced that Solomon is among the best in the world in beating his man and has no doubt that the pacy winger belongs at the very top level.

The former Chelsea boss told Ynet about his compatriot: “Manor is a special player; he was excellent at Fulham. I spoke with him, and he’s thrilled to be at Tottenham; he has improved his killer instinct.

“What sets him apart is his amazing one-on-one ability; he’s among the best. He is a Premier League player in every sense.”

There is no doubt that Solomon is going to be a huge asset for Tottenham over the course of the season whether he starts or comes on as an impact substitute.

With Kulusevski finding the back of the net on Saturday, the Israeli now appears the most likely to make way if Ange does decide to hand Brennan Johnson a start.
