Former Chelsea manager reportedly eyeing up Spurs job if Pochettino leaves

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a pretty awful start to the new season with just three wins from their first eleven matches.

This has led to some speculation around the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino, with one man reportedly keeping an eye on whether the Argentine parts ways with the club.

Jose Mourinho is apparently keen on the Tottenham job if Poch quits or is fired in the near future, with the Chosen One being out of work since he left Man United (Mail).

Mourinho is said to be waiting for the right opportunity, which could also include the Real Madrid job if Zidane is fired.

Jose apparently wants his next club to be on the same level as him as a manager, which seems to include Tottenham, high praise indeed for the North London side.

This comes after Spurs reached the Champions League Final last season, defeating Man City, Borussia Dortmund, and Ajax along the way.

Mourinho said (Mirror): “I have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity and the right opportunity is one that is at the same size and the same level that I am as a manager. I have to wait for the exact right one.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Will he win the club trophies? Probably. Is he the man to lead the club long-term? Almost certainly not. Would he see eye to eye with Daniel Levy and a tight transfer budget? Not a chance.
