Former Chelsea midfielder says Alli and Kane might leave after Poch comments

Two defeats in four days away to Burnley and Chelsea has put Tottenham 9 points behind league leaders Liverpool, thus effectively putting the Premier League title beyond their reach.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino certainly couldn’t hide his disappointment, particularly after the team’s defeat at Turf Moor as he questioned the team’s desire and attitude.

Before the game against Chelsea on Wednesday, the Argentine said that it might even take up to 10 years for Tottenham to win a league title, a comment which certainly didn’t sit well with Spurs fans.

Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole is one of those who has been left surprised by the Argentine’s comments. He said Pochettino’s assertion that it might take 10 years for the club to win a title, will make the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli question their future.

While he admitted that Pochettino has improved Tottenham’s football, he questioned if the 46-year has been able to change the team’s mentality.

Speaking to BT Sport, Cole said, “If I am Harry Kane or Dele Alli and my manager says we’re five, ten years away from winning a trophy, I’m on the phone to my agent.

“He [Pochettino] has made an improvement but I don’t see him making a change in the mentality at Spurs, because you’re still seeing the same problems where you expect things like they’ll lose to Burnley at the weekend.

“All your quality English players, like your (Harry) Winks and your Kanes and your Allis, have their sights set on winning Premier League titles.”
