Former club director claims centre-back linked with Spurs is worth around £35m

Former Partizan Belgrade director Ivica Iliev has claimed that Nikola Milenkovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur has the qualities to generate a €40m (£34.9m) transfer fee.

Milenkovic has developed into one of the most promising central defenders in Italian football since swapping Partizan Belgrade for Fiorentina in 2017.

It was reported back in November that Tottenham and Manchester United were both tracking the centre-back, with Jose Mourinho said to be a fan of the 23-year-old.

Reports from Italy previously claimed that the Serbian, who has just 18 months left to run on his contract, is unlikely to sign a new deal with Fiorentina.

The centre-back has chosen to remain coy about his future, insisting that he will make a decision at the end of the season (Radio Bruno via CalcioNews24).

Iliev has now confidently claimed that the former Partizan Belgrade star is destined for the top in the coming years.

He told Labora Viola: “(Milenkovic) could easily play at clubs like Manchester United, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. Milenkovic is already ready for these teams.

“€40m for Milenkovic would be fair considering he is a defender.”

Since Milenkovic will have just a year left on his contract at the end of the season, Fiorentina are unlikely to get anywhere near £35m for the centre-back unless he signs a new deal.
