Former England manager labels Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham as ‘a horrible team’

Former England manager, Steve McClaren claims that Jose Mourinho has made Tottenham Hotspur a horrible team to play against.

Spurs started the campaign scoring goals for fun as they put five past Southampton, six past Manchester United and three past West Ham.

However, uncharacteristically for a Mourinho side, they did have trouble managing leads and threw away points from winning positions.

Since the late collapse against West Ham, the North Londoners have shown a different side to them, managing to win three in a row despite not being at their best.

As fans who watched Amazon’s Spurs documentary will be aware, one of the themes of the series was Mourinho’s insistence that the team was too nice and that the players would have to develop a nasty streak if they are to win silverware.

McClaren believes that the Portuguese coach has been successful in making the Spurs side a nastier outfit and suggested that silverware could well follow.

The 59-year-old told talkSPORT on Monday: “It’s only a matter of time before Mourinho gets Tottenham playing how they want to.

“They’ve always been a good team, a nice team.

“He’s making them a horrible team – a horrible team to play against. And horrible teams win trophies.”
