Former Fiorentina director claims Vlahovic could not ‘live with Harry Kane’

Former Fiorentina sporting director Oreste Cinquini has questioned whether Dusan Vlahovic would be a good tactical fit for Tottenham and doubts the striker would be able to slot in a team alongside Harry Kane.

The Serbia international, who has scored on 14 occasions this season, is said to be garnering plenty of transfer interest around Europe.

Vlahovic, 21, sees his contract expire in the summer of 2023, but the pressure is now on the shoulders of Fiorentina chiefs to make a crucial transfer decision regarding their talisman.

Reports in the summer claimed Tottenham were strongly considering a move for the striker after Kane’s future was thrust into uncertainty, but a move never came to fruition with the England captain electing to remain in North London.

Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal have recently been keeping tabs on Vlahovic’s situation, however, further reports suggested the player’s camp rebuked the interest in the hope of securing a more lucrative move.

However, former Fiorentina chief Cinquini doubts whether Vlahovic would be a good fit for either club, and particularly questioned whether he could match the level of Kane.

Speaking to Firenze Viola, Cinqini said: “I also hear about Arsenal and Tottenham, but I don’t see how Vlahovic can live with Harry Kane on a tactical level.”

Vlahovic has been making obvious waves with Fiorentina over the last 18 months and while a move seems likely, it will be tricky to complete.

He has the physicality and style to compete in the Premier League, but Spurs have often competed with one striker so it would be interesting to see if there would be a switch in dynamic.
