Former golden boot winner comments on whether Kane can scoop it this year

Tottenham Hotspur look unlikely to pick up any silverware yet again this season, continuing the 11-year wait for a trophy.

Spurs still remain in the Champions League, but going on to win the entire competition would be somewhat of an underdog miracle.

However, there may be one Tottenham player taking home a trophy come the end of the campaign, and that man is Harry Kane.

Kane already has three golden boots on his CV, including back-to-back top goal scoring figures in the Premier League and one at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

The England captain has a good chance to add a fourth this season, as he battles it out with the likes of Aguero, Salah, and Aubameyang for the title.

One man who believes Harry Kane will edge the fight is former Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips, who won his back in the 1999/00 season with an impressive 30 premier league goals.

He said (Weekend Sports Breakfast): “For me, Sergio Aguero is playing in the best team in the land. But I just have a sneaky suspicion that Harry Kane is so desperate to win the Golden Boot every season, it wouldn’t surprise me if he come up trumps towards the end of the season.

“I think it will go all the way to the wire. Aubameyang is scoring goals for fun, but if you put me on the spot, I would say Harry Kane.”
