Former Inter Milan captain shares disappointment at Spurs signing Perisic

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Inter Milan legend Graziano Bini has branded Ivan Perisic’s move to Tottenham a ‘great loss’ for his former side.

Perisic, 33, flew to London on Monday morning to complete a medical and sign a two-year deal with the Lilywhites (Sky Sports). Tottenham then officially announced the signing on Tuesday, much to the delight of the Spurs fanbase.

The Croatian enjoyed a prolific year with the Nerazzurri, netting eight goals and providing seven assists in 35 Serie A appearances (TransferMarkt).

With Conte reportedly wanting to add experience and quality to his squad ahead of next season, Perisic can provide just that (Sky Sports).

However, many at Inter are disappointed at Perisic’s departure. On Monday, chief executive Giuseppe Marotta voiced his regret at the club’s failure to tie down the left wing-back for another season (FCInterNews).

He said: “We’re sorry to see him go. But he wanted to try a new adventure in the Premier League. We were not in a position to present a better option, and it was his choice to seek a future somewhere else.

“Total respect for him, and also a big thank you. We’ll find the right replacement. And, in any case, we’ve already signed Gosens.”

However, Bini, who made 342 appearances in his time at the San Siro (TransferMarkt), has now aired his worries regarding Perisic’s replacement at Inter.

He said (TuttoMercatoWeb): “Robin Gosens is a top-level player but, if he has to do Perisic’s job, I don’t know if he can. Perisic is a big loss.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Looking at the widespread anger at Perisic’s departure, it is clear to see that he is a player whose quality can have a very positive influence on this Spurs side.

Conte’s system has been crying out for wing-backs with end product and the former-Bayern man clearly has this in abundance.
