Former Italy international reveals Tottenham want to sign Serie A star

Former Serie A star Simone Altobelli has revealed that Tottenham are showing interest in signing Leonardo Spinazzola this summer.

Spinazzola has enjoyed two excellent campaigns at the Stadio Olimpico since leaving Juventus to join Roma in 2019.

The 28-year-old’s impressive form at club level has seen him become an important part of Roberto Mancini’s Italian side.

The left-wing-back has been one of the Azzurri’s best performers so far at the European Championships, even being handed the Man of the Match award in their 3-0 win over Turkey.

The Daily Express reported last week that Tottenham and Chelsea were both eyeing a move for Spinazzola this summer on the back of his impressive showing at the Euros.

The report claimed that the North Londoners view the Roma star as the man to replace Danny Rose.

Altobelli has now lavished praise on the left-back and named Spurs as one of the clubs vying for his signature.

He told Centro Suono Sport (as relayed by Siamo la Roma): “For me, he’s (Spinazzola) a top player, but I’ve been saying that since he was at Juventus.

“It is scary because he manages to beat the man in the last 30 meters. I hope Roma don’t give him to Real Madrid. I know that the Spaniards and Tottenham want the player.

“I think at the moment he is in top form and feels the confidence of both Roma and (Italy coach Roberto) Mancini.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With Reguilon and Davies likely to remain at Spurs and with Sessegnon returning from his loan spell, I do not see a new left-back as a priority this summer, compared to positions like right-back and centre-back.
