Former Italy international slams manager for Kulusevski and Bentancur decisions

Antonio Cassano has blasted Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri for his treatment of both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, pointing to the pair’s resurgence following their move to Tottenham in January.

Tottenham completed the signing of both Kulusevski and Bentancur on transfer deadline day in January and it is fair to say that neither signing particularly excited the Spurs fan base.

However, the pair have already shown that they are more than merely functional squad players, having established themselves as regulars in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven.

Kulusevski has added a different dimension to Tottenham’s attack alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min while Bentancur has displayed his technical ability in possession as well as his tactical acumen in the middle of the park.

The two new signings have arguably been Spurs’ best players in recent weeks, even amidst some inconsistent results on the pitch.

Cassano believes that Allegri deserves blame for underutilising both players in Turin.

The former Italian international told Calcimercato.it: “Bentancur and Kulusevski… only Allegri could not let them play, they are doing well in England.”

On Kulusevski, Cassano added: “He is a good player who did very well with Pirlo.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Both Kulusevski and Bentancur fit naturally into Conte’s system and have certainly improved our starting eleven, even though our results over the last two months have been poor.

The way the pair have settled in at Spurs is a positive sign regarding our approach to recruitment under Conte. Hopefully, we will make similar additions in the summer, who can hit the ground running.
