Report: Former Jose Mourinho target available for cut-price fee in January

According to a report by CalcioMercato, Inter Milan are ready to sell rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Perisic for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.

Jose Mourinho has expressed his admiration for Perisic in the past and the winger was linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer after enjoying a fine season on loan at Bayern Munich last time out.

However, Tottenham reportedly withdrew from the race to sign the Croatian international after they completed a deal to re-sign Gareth Bale on loan (Fussballtransfers).

Perisic ended up staying put at Inter and Antonio Conte has given the experienced wide man plenty of opportunities this season.

However, the 31-year-old has not been able to build on the form he showed for Bayern last season and CalcioMercato claim that Inter are ready to cash-in on him in order to raise funds to sign their transfer targets.

The report reveals that the Nerrazuri rejected an offer of around £11m from Bayern for Perisic in the previous transfer window but hints that the Serie A club could accept a similar bid for him in January.

Tottenham are mentioned as one of the clubs interested in the winger but Manchester United are said to be the front runners for his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Perisic is very much a Mourinho type of signing. However, we have plenty of options out wide at the moment and I do not see where the Croatian would fit in at Spurs. Given that funds are likely to be limited in January, we would be better of investing in areas where we are in more desperate need of reinforcements like centre back and centre midfield.
