Former Liverpool man claims Spurs star ‘doesn’t look very happy’

Former Liverpool winger Dirt Kuyt has claimed that Gareth Bale does not look very happy at Tottenham Hotspur and admitted that he is surprised by the way things have gone for the Welshman since his return to North London..

Jose Mourinho handed Bale a start in Tottenham’s clash against Brighton last month and the Spurs boss would have been hoping that the experienced wide man stepped up and delivered the goods in Harry Kane’s absence.

However, the on-loan Real Madrid star put in a poor display and was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Unsurprisingly, Bale has been left on the bench for the last two games against Chelsea and West Brom and the Portuguese coach was not willing to explain why he did use the 31-year-old during Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Kuyt admitted that he expected more from Bale after returning to Spurs and questioned if the winger still wants to prove himself at the top level.

The Dutchman told Stadium Astro: “I don’t know what’s happening with the Gareth Bale situation.

“Because when you look at him, he doesn’t look very happy but in my opinion, Spurs is his team. He played there for many, many years – before going to Real Madrid.

Bale has always been a confidence player and so, the longer his struggles continue, the more difficult it will be for him to turn things around before the end of the season. However, looking at his body language, it does not appear as if he is overly bothered by not being able to produce the goods on the pitch and being left on the bench.
