Former Liverpool player claims Spurs ‘could do much better’ than Jose Mourinho

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa forward, Stan Collymore has claimed that he has not been convinced by the job Jose Mourinho has done at Tottenham so far.

Tottenham were struggling when the Portuguese coach was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement last November and the side had an immediate upturn in form.

However, the inconsistency once again crept in at the start of the new year as the North Londoners lost several key players to injury.

The Lilywhites did show some promising signs after the restart as they finished the campaign unbeaten in their final six matches, which enabled them to sneak into the top six and book a place in the Europa League.

However, Collymore does not believe that Mourinho is the same manager he once was and insisted that Tottenham would fare better if they replaced him.

Here’s how the pundit responded when asked by a fan on social media what the biggest issue with Spurs was at the moment.

Collymore is one of several pundits who have been critical of Mourinho since he arrived at Spurs. It is perhaps harsh to judge him on the back of last season given that it was only the second time he took a job mid-season and the injury problems we suffered. We certainly showed some promising signs following the restart and I am excited to see what Jose can do with a full-preseason. He will be desperate to prove the doubters wrong by leading us to silverware and a top-four finish next season.
