Former Man United defender claims Spurs star accepts being beaten up on the pitch

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has controversially claimed that Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is a better player than Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Vardy has had an excellent start to the season having scored 16 goals so far this campaign for high flying Leicester City who occupy in the second spot in the Premier League table (transfermarkt).

Kane has also been in top form with 25 goals in 26 games for club and country so far this season (talkSPORT).

However, Parker insists that it is Vardy’s work rate and hunger that sets him apart from the England captain and claimed that he would rather play with the Leicester forward than Kane.

When asked if he believed Vardy was the better player, Parker told talkSPORT, “I do. I would rather play with Jamie Vardy in my team than Harry Kane because I know what I’m getting week-in, week-out.

“When I watch people jog around and not even bother to try and make a tackle and come off the pitch with clean shorts… I’m sorry, call me a dinosaur, but I would rather just play with Vardy.

“Put him up there and you’ll know he’ll make a bad ball into a good ball.”

The former full-back then insisted that he would fancy his chances if he came up against Kane after claiming that the 26-year-old is not a fan of a physical battle with the opposition defence.

Parker added, “I’d much rather play against Harry Kane, all day long. I’d fancy my chances; every time I’ve seen people try to beat him up, he just accepts it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Vardy has patches of great goal scoring form, Kane’s record has been consistently better than Vardy’s for close to six seasons. Even taking away the goals, Kane’s all-round play is on a different level to Vardy’s.

While the Leicester striker is obviously better at running in behind the defence with his pace, Kane’s vision and passing ability are up there with the best in the world.
