Former Man Utd defender believes Pochettino is still first choice

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had been linked heavily with the Manchester United job since the Red Devils parted ways with Jose Mourinho in December.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has performed admirably since being appointed as interim manager and the Red Devils confirmed earlier today that he will get the job on a full-time basis. (Guardian)

Solskjaer’s appointment is certainly great news for Spurs as it means that Pochettino is likely to remain in North London and continue overseeing the exciting project at Spurs.

The Argentine will now have one of the best stadiums in world football at his disposal, and if reports are to be believed, has been promised a substantial amount of money to spend in the summer.

However, Former Utd defender Phil Neville has warned Solksjaer that speculation linking Pochettino with the Old Trafford hot seat is unlikely to stop anytime soon.

In fact, the 42-year-old said that Pochettino will likely continue to be linked with the Old Trafford job for the next five years as he is a perfect fit for the role.

Speaking to Premier League Today (via the Express), Neville said, “If Solskjaer gets the job and United lose the first 10 games of next season, Pochettino will be the number one [to replace him].

“He looks like a Man United manager to me in terms of his whole philosophy.

“Pochettino over the next five years, I don’t think, will actually go away from the speculation of Man United.”
