Former Man Utd player tells Red Devils to sign someone like Harry Kane

Tottenham have had a disastrous start to the season and there is simply no running away from the fact that the club are now in crisis.

However, despite going through their worst run of form since Mauricio Pochettino arrived at the club, Tottenham are still not the lowest placed top 6 side in the Premier League table from last season.

That unenviable honour goes to Manchester United, who are arguably playing even worse football than Spurs.

While there does seem to be problems behind the scenes at Tottenham, the squad is still strong enough to finish in the top four.

Man Utd on the other hand, simply don’t look like they have the players to even finish in the top six.

Former United winger Lee Sharpe has insisted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team needs a hefty re-build to fix their problems and asked the club to go for someone like Spurs forward Harry Kane who can put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.

The departure of Romelu Lukaku has left the former Premier League champions without an out and out forward.

Speaking to talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Sharp said, “I think you are looking at least £300million (for the rebuild).

“You need someone like a Harry Kane for £200m/£220m that is going to score you 25 goals a season and you’ve got a different outlook in the team. So it is not going to be a cheap one.”

I don’t think Sharp specifically is talking about Man Utd going for Harry Kane. He is using the England captain as an example of the kind of striker Man Utd need. Regardless, with Kane under a long term contract, it is unlikely that even £200m will be enough to tempt Levy to sell Spurs’ talisman.
