Former Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez has urged Tottenham to make an audacious move to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club.
If reports are to be believed, Tottenham are running out of options in their hunt for a new manager, with Julian Nagelsmann joining Bayern Munich, Erik ten Hag extending his Ajax contract and Brendan Rodgers ruling himself out of contention for the job.
The likes of Ralf Rangnick, Graham Potter and Scott Parker have also been mooted as potential contenders but Sanchez believes that the Lilywhites could convince Pochettino to re-join the club.
The Argentine has not had the best of times at Paris Saint-Germain, with the club sitting behind Lille in the Ligue 1 table and being knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Sanchez believes that Pochettino may have now realised that the grass is not always greener on the other side and could be open to a return to N17.
The former Republic of Ireland manager told Football Fancast: “If I was Tottenham, I would go back and get Pochettino.
“I’d say ‘look, we’ve made a major mistake, we love what you have done here, come back’.
“Let him win his trophy with PSG. Having left, he realised that he wasn’t as hot as thing as he thought he was.
“He didn’t get the Manchester United job or any of the top jobs. He’s ended up at PSG – a one-club country.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I am convinced that Pochettino will return to manage Spurs one day as he still has unfinished business at the club. However, I do not think there is any chance of the Argentine being our next appointment. I believe PSG will give him next season to show what he can do and the Argentine will be successful at Parc des Princes.
