Former PL manager reveals how many ‘world class’ signings Conte needs at Spurs

Neil Warnock has claimed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not back Antonio Conte in the transfer window this summer.

Conte has just come off the back of his first transfer window in charge of Spurs which saw the club make moves to reshape the squad.

Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur arrived on deadline day from Juventus to become the Italian coach’s first signings.

Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil and Dele Alli headlined the departure list as part of the club’s long-awaited clear-out.

But Tottenham’s business was far from straightforward, with the club also missing out on intended targets Adama Traore and Luis Diaz to Barcelona and Liverpool respectively (The Telegraph).

While the summer window could act as the barometer for where Spurs stand regarding their ambition under Conte, former Premier League manager Warnock is not convinced he will receive the full backing needed to be a success in North London.

Warnock said on talkSPORT (14/02/22): “They need the backing. I am not sure Daniel [Levy] will put his hand in that much to get the players that they needed really.

“He needs three or four players. I can’t see Daniel Levy giving him the money Conte needs because he’s used to signing world-class players. They aren’t going to get them for £30-40 million.”

The summer transfer window is key for Tottenham to get right and they need to ensure they give Conte the tools necessary to be successful. Some players will be returning from their loans too so there is money available and tied up there, which means there are no excuses not to address the problem areas.
